A significant number of women have expressed concern that health and safety issues specific to working women (such as gender-based violence, pregnancy, menstruation and menopause) are not adequately addressed. The IUF has just published a resource document on gender mainstreaming in occupational health and safety. The publication includes an overview of the problem, concerns raised by IUF affiliates and suggestions for action that can be taken. It also includes a section on research that can be done directly by union representatives and workers, including body and workplace hazard maps and a list of useful resources on occupational health and safety (OHS).
